Tom Cummings

Founder, Leading Ventures, The Netherlands

Tom Cummings is an Executive Board and Senior Management Adviser. He is also a creative partner, designer and process facilitator for strategic visioning, business performance and leadership development programs. He works both independently and in collaboration with faculty from leading business schools and consulting firms.

Tom has served as global head of Learning and Organisation Effectiveness for Unilever and ABN Amro Bank; project leader/adviser on planning and learning in companies such as Shell, Compass Group, Fortis, Marakon and BUPA and others. He has created and co-designed business transformation and learning vehicles such as Cambridge Energy Research Associates, Center for Strategy Research, Leading Ventures and Common Purpose Netherlands.

Tom has also led the Tällberg Leader Program since 2006.

His work has involved him as a designer and catalyst in hundreds of projects and board retreats across many cultures. He works with people who wish to engage with complexity and want to learn how to move between and across different perspectives. The approach helps to integrate experience and anticipate challenges. His work encourages leaders to be present and mindful of their personal impact while sustaining a perspective on their legacy in the wider world.

Tom also lectures on the Corporate Supervisory Board program at Nyenrode Business University and he is the former co-director of the Cambridge Judge Business School executive development program on ‘Futures Thinking’. Previously, he served a five year assignment as academic lecturer and research fellow at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he was co-director of the program on Business Alliances and wrote award-winning case studies and peer-reviewed articles/book chapters on strategy, and organisation innovation through network collaboration.

Currently, Tom is also a board member of the International Bateson Institute and a senior advisory board member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values.
