Tällberg Foundation Deputy Chairman Anders Wijkman published an op ed in Sweden’s largest daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter (together with Göran Hägglund, leader of the Swedish Christian Democrat Party). The article calls for an increase in taxes on gasoline and fuel as a cornerstone for a new government transport policy. It ends: “Fundamentally, we need a re-structuring of our transports and communications, where diminished and adapted transport needs, efficiencies, optimal use of IT, expanded collective transportation, renewable fuels, improved infrastructural planning, economic incentives and personal responsibilities are all important, complementary parts.
