Conflict with nature
Ekman and Olsson state that “mankind’s conflict with nature is worse than what we had previously thought” in SvD article.

Bo Ekman, founder and chairman of the Tällberg Foundation, and Hans Olov Olsson, who just joined the foundation board, have published a full page op-ed in Svenska Dagbladet on 4 December 2007. Hans Olov Olsson is chairman of Teknikföretagen (Association of Swedish Engineering Industries), vice-chairman of Vattenfall, and former President & CEO of Volvo Car Corporation.

In the article, Ekman and Olsson state that “mankind’s conflict with nature is worse than what we had previously thought”. To succeed in mitigating global warming, we need “a successful round of negociations in Bali and a coordinated global action plan of previously unseen efficiency.” The authors go on: “Many in business lack knowledge of the intimate connections between economy and ecology. The newly acquired knowledge about ecosystems and climate crisis show more clearly than ever that nature is setting boundary conditions that must not be trespassed.” It calls for a new attitude on the part of the business community: “The engine of economic globalisation is business. Therefore, business should take the lead when it comes to insight, actions and responsibility in global warming.”
