Hans-Olov Olsson was born in 1941 and received his Master of Political Science from the University of Gothenburg with further studies in information management, Gothenburg School of Economics. He joined Volvo in 1966. He is currently Chairman of Chalmers Tekniska Högskola AB. Previous positions include: 1998 – 2000 Senior Vice President, VCC, and President & CEO, Volvo Cars North America (VCNA); 1996 – 1998 Senior Vice President, European Sales, VCC, and President, VCMAE, Brussels; 1990 – 1996 President, Volvo Cars Japan, 1987 – 1989 Vice President, Global Marketing, Marketing Sales; 1982 – 1986 Director, Area Overseas, Marketing Sales; 1977 – 1981 General Manager, Volvo Dalslandsverken; 1974 – 1977 Project Manager on construction of car assembly plant in Chesapeake, Virginia, USA; 1972 – 1974 Production manager, final assembly, Volvo Truck Corporation, Gothenburg; 1969 – 1972 Manager, Material Control & Administration, Volvo Truck Corporation, Gothenburg; 1966 – 1968 Several positions as systems engineer with Volvo Car Corporation and Volvo Truck Corporation. He is married with two daughters and enjoys outdoor life, exploring nature, jogging, and boating.
