Oceans is an ecological drama/documentary, filmed throughout the globe - part thriller, part meditation, the film is an epic journey that stars the fauna of the aquatic world in their element and reveals the imminent threats to the planet’s oceans.
Nearly three-quarters of the earth’s surface is covered by water and Oceans boldly chronicles the mysteries that lie beneath. By revealing the true nature of ocean creatures in their natural surroundings, the film reminds viewers of the diversity and exuberance of life on the planet. Oceans offers an unprecedented look at the magical yet fragile environment of our oceans and is a testimony to the negative consequences of human impact and the urgency to protect the vanishing wonders of the sub-aquatic world.
Oceans is narrated by Pierre Brosnan in the English version, and by Jacques Perrin in the French version. Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud directed with Jake Eberts as executive producer.
After seven years in the making, Oceans premiered in France in 2009 and almost immediately became one of the top-grossing nature films in the country’s history. The film made the big screens around Europe in the beginning of 2010, and debuted in the U.S. on Earth Day, April 22. In Sweden, Oceans will open at movie theatres on October 1, with a sneak-preview at Bio Victor, Filmhuset, on September 22.
Svenska Dagbladet published a review of Oceans on September 19, see http://tinyurl.com/34w57sf.
