Climate change and corporate strategy
Over 100 business and political leaders from Sweden and abroad gathered at Berns, Stockholm, on the afternoon of January 15th, 2007, to address the strategic implications of climate change to corporations.

The seminar, organised by the Tällberg Foundation, aimed to initiate discussion on the actions required from companies to respond to the challenge of climate change today, and, in the light of this, to understand what support this requires in terms of governance frameworks such as global agreements and legislation.

The audience included CEOs, senior executives and environmental directors from both large and small Swedish companies. They joined Sweden’s Deputy Prime-Minister, Maud Olofsson, Minister Michael Glos from Germany and speakers from the Tällberg network in an open debate. The seminar was presented with support from the weekly business magazine, Veckans Affärer, and with sponsorship from Vattenfall AB and Investor AB.

This was an event where no-one questioned the seriousness of climate change to future society. It was clear that the time has come for the business and political leaders to take action. The pressing issue was to now agree upon how to proceed.
